Academic Excellence at the University of Bristol

"I have never imagined that any city could win my heart so easily. I was soon assured about my expectations – greatly surpassing them in all aspects. The academic life of students is supported by a wide range of relevant University staff- for example extensive office hours of lecturers and tutors, in addition to numerous libraries with quiet study spaces. The University of Bristol has the students’ complete ‘well-being’ in focus to aid us in pursuit of our future career."

Get an excellent degree from a world-renowned university

At University of Bristol, our main goal is to prepare all our students to enter the world of employment and start a successful career in the area of their choice. We give our students the best academic experience and foster a culture of excellence to ensure everyone’s success. As a result, we are one of the five most targeted universities by top employers (The Graduate Market in 2014 - High Fliers Research).

Throughout your studies at University of Bristol, we will equip you with the skills employers look for and help you choose your ideal career. We are 4th in the UK for graduate employment, with more than 87 per cent of 2012 graduates in work or further study within six months of leaving the University.

    Preparing for your future career

We provide a Careers Service with advisers that can help you explore your options and make successful job applications, as well as offer you advice on postgraduate study options and funding. The Careers Service works with a range of small and medium-size organisations to offer our students and graduates a variety of opportunities for paid work experience through our internship scheme.

This enables you to find out more about your chosen field, develop your professional network, or try out a career you haven’t previously considered. We encourage all our students to undertake internships and in 2012-13 we arranged more than 190 international work placements.

    Make the right connections

We have long-standing relationships with hundreds of employers, from small businesses to global organisations. They provide input into our degree courses to make sure they are up to date, and frequently visit the university to share their knowledge at careers fairs, presentations, networking events, and practice interviews.

This gives students an excellent chance to network and make contacts within the industry, as well as giving them unique access to professional advice and knowledge. Our growing alumni network is composed of almost 100,000 Bristol graduates and forms a great web of contacts for our future graduates to join.
